A soccer game between Serbia and Albania on Oct. 14th came to an abrupt and chaotic end when a DJI Phantom carrying a banner in support of Albanian separatists in Kosovoflew over the field. The game, a qualifying match for the European Championship tournament, was suspended when a brawl erupted between the players.
The melee ensued after one of the Serbian players, Stefan Mitrovic, grabbed the dangling banner when the quadcopter made a low pass over the field. Taking offense, several Albanian players rushed him and the field descended into chaos. Ultimately, both teams fled to their respective locker rooms as fans pelted them with trash from the stands.
The game was the first played between the two national teams since 1967, and ended just after the halfway point with a score of 0-0.
